Description: GroupWise Pager gateway MIB for monitoring Novell GroupWise paging integration gateway status and message delivery.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is GWPAGERMIB?
GWPAGERMIB is a Novell vendor MIB for the GroupWise Pager gateway, a component that bridges the GroupWise messaging system to external paging networks for message/alert delivery. It exposes gateway identity, uptime, link status to both the GroupWise system and the foreign paging network, and byte/message throughput and error counters for traffic in each direction. It is a direct software status and performance monitoring MIB: gwPAGERUptime tracks how long the gateway process has been running, gwPAGERGroupWiseLink/gwPAGERFrgnLink report whether both required connections are up, and the in/out error counters (gwPAGEROutErrors, gwPAGERInErrors) reveal delivery problems. It is specific to Novell GroupWise and depends on the health of the underlying GroupWise messaging link and the external paging network connection it bridges. It is deployed in enterprise GroupWise environments that still use pager-based alerting or notification delivery. Engineers can download the GWPAGERMIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in GWPAGERMIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Novell/Micro Focus GroupWise Pager gateway server
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll gwPAGERUptime alongside gwPAGERGroupWiseLink and gwPAGERFrgnLink to confirm the gateway process is running and both its internal GroupWise connection and external paging network link are up. gwPAGEROutMsgs/gwPAGERInMsgs and gwPAGEROutBytes/gwPAGERInBytes track message and data throughput, while a spike in gwPAGEROutErrors or gwPAGERInErrors would indicate messages failing to reach the paging network or malformed inbound traffic. gwPAGERGatewayName identifies which of potentially several pager gateways is reporting the data.
What Can Be Monitored
- gateway uptime
- GroupWise link status
- foreign/paging network link status
- inbound/outbound message and byte counts
- inbound/outbound error counts
