Description: General DataComm DS1 MIB for T1 interface configuration, performance monitoring, and alarm management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is GDCDS1-MIB?

GDCDS1-MIB is a General DataComm vendor MIB covering DS1 (T1) interfaces, used for configuration, performance monitoring, and alarm management on GDC's T1/CSU (Channel Service Unit) equipment. It exposes DS1 line configuration and status along with performance statistics typical of T1 circuits, such as error-second counts and alarm conditions, centered on the gdc and csu object groups referenced in the module. This MIB is directly aimed at monitoring hardware status of the T1 line and CSU device: it would surface conditions like loss of signal, loss of frame, alarm indication signal, and line-code violations, which are the standard indicators of a failing T1 circuit or CSU hardware. It builds on the conventions of the IETF DS1/E1 MIB (RFC 1406/2495) for T1 alarm and performance semantics even though implemented as a private table. The GDCDS1-MIB MIB is deployed on WAN edge equipment terminating leased T1 circuits via a General DataComm CSU.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in GDCDS1-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • General DataComm DS1/T1 CSU equipment

Monitoring Examples

An operator monitoring a leased T1 line through a GDC CSU would poll the DS1 alarm status objects under the csu group to check for loss-of-signal or AIS conditions, and would trend the associated performance counters for errored seconds. A persistent loss-of-signal alarm combined with rising errored-second counts would point to a physical T1 circuit fault or a failing CSU line interface unit.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DS1 line alarm status (loss of signal/frame, AIS)
  • DS1 performance error-second counters
  • CSU configuration state
