What Is GDC-DSU-MGMT-MIB?
GDC-DSU-MGMT-MIB is a General DataComm proprietary MIB (built on the shared GDCMACRO-MIB framework) for managing DSU (Digital Service Unit) channel configuration and DS0 timeslot allocation. It exposes a MIB-version identifier, a DS0-allocation-scheme table describing how timeslots are assigned, and a channel configuration table recording each channel's base rate and starting DS0 timeslot. As a configuration MIB it lets an administrator confirm a DSU channel's DS0 allocation and base rate match the intended circuit provisioning. It is deployed on General DataComm DSU equipment. Engineers can download the GDC-DSU-MGMT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in GDC-DSU-MGMT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- General DataComm DSU (Digital Service Unit) equipment
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks gdcDsuChannelConfigTable to confirm a channel's starting DS0 timeslot and base rate match the circuit's provisioned bandwidth before troubleshooting a throughput shortfall.

| SCI gdcDsuDS0AllocationIndex | 1.3.6.1.4.1.498.8.5.1.1.1 | SCinstance | read-only | The index value which uniquely identifies the DSU to which this entry is applicable. This has the form of a SCinstance which defines the slot, line, drop, and sub-identifier. The sub-identifier for this SC instance is the DSU. |
| INT gdcDsuDS0AllocationScheme | 1.3.6.1.4.1.498.8.5.1.1.2 | INTEGER | read-write | Identifies the DSU DS0 allocation scheme. The value of other(1) indicates that an allocation scheme is used which is defined elsewhere. The value consecutive(2) indicates that bundles of DS0s are allocated to channels consecutively from the starting DS0. The value of alternate(3) indicates that bundles of DS0s are allocated to channels alternatly, or every other DS0 from the starting DS0. The unused DS0s are forced to marks. The value of other(1) can never be set by management operation. Note that DS0 bundles cannot be split across frames (wrap around from the highest numbered DS0 of one frame to DS0 1 of the next frame. For example, on a T1 frame using consecutive DS0 allocation, a channel configuration of starting DS0 = 20 and number of DS0s = 5 is an illegal channel configuration because the DS0 bundle wraps from DS0 #24 of 1 frame to DS0 #1 of the next. |
| gdcDsuChannelConfigTable | 1.3.6.1.4.1.498.8.5.2 | not-accessible | The GDC DSU Channel Configuration table. Information in the entries of this table define the configuration of DSU channels. There are entries in this table for each channel of the associated DSU. | |
