What Is FOUNDRY-SN-OSPF-GROUP-MIB?

FOUNDRY-SN-OSPF-GROUP-MIB is a Brocade (formerly Foundry Networks) vendor module for FastIron and NetIron routers/Layer 3 switches, providing detailed OSPF routing protocol management beyond what the standard OSPF-MIB (RFC 1850) covers. It exposes general OSPF process configuration, per-area data, address-range route summarization, per-interface and virtual-interface OSPF state, and route redistribution settings. Its monitoring role is squarely in software/protocol status — tracking whether OSPF interfaces and virtual links are in the expected adjacency state and whether redistribution is behaving as configured — which is critical for diagnosing routing instability or lost adjacencies. It is designed to complement, not replace, the standard OSPF-MIB, adding Foundry/Brocade-specific extensions on top of it. It is deployed in enterprise and service-provider networks running Brocade/Foundry FastIron or NetIron OSPF routers, and the FOUNDRY-SN-OSPF-GROUP-MIB MIB is loaded alongside that standard OSPF-MIB rather than in place of it, giving Brocade/Foundry-specific visibility into area, interface, and redistribution state.

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll snOspfIntf entries to check per-interface OSPF state and snOspfVirtIf to confirm virtual-link status across a non-contiguous backbone area, alongside snOspfArea for area-level LSA information. A virtual interface stuck in a non-full adjacency state would reveal a broken OSPF path across an ABR, and unexpected entries in snOspfRedis would flag unintended route redistribution leaking routes between protocols.
