Description: Huawei RPR (Resilient Packet Ring, IEEE 802.17) MIB for managing RPR ring topology, station state, and bandwidth fairness.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-RPR-MIB?

HUAWEI-RPR-MIB is a Huawei Technologies proprietary MIB monitoring RPR (Resilient Packet Ring, IEEE 802.17) traps and interface events. Its interface-event table records logical interface index/span ID and event, plus a physical-interface-event object, while an interface-config table records total bandwidth per logical interface, alongside a rich set of trap-condition objects: excess-reserved-rate defect, protection-misconfiguration defect, topology change, invalid-topology defect, duplicate-MAC-address defect, topology-instability defect/restore, node-connection error/resume, node-mis-cabling/resume, and mate error/resume. As a protocol-status/notification MIB it lets an administrator watch for RPR ring topology instability and mis-cabling conditions. It is deployed on Huawei RPR ring switches. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-RPR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-RPR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei RPR (Resilient Packet Ring) switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator subscribes to hwRPRtopoInstabilityDefect to catch a Huawei RPR ring experiencing topology flapping before it escalates into a service-affecting event.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RPR ring topology stability and mis-cabling detection
