Description: Nokia (formerly NSN) 1830 FMX optical transport MIB for managing the 1830 Photonic Service Switch/FMX optical network elements.

Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is FMX1830?

FMX1830 is a legacy vendor-private MIB authored by Fibronics for its terminal-server linecard product of the same name, defined under the fibronics enterprise branch (fmxbd/devices/terminal-server). Despite the name suggesting a modern optical transport platform, the actual module models an async terminal server: port configuration and session state in vPortTable (vPortState, vPortActiveSessions, vPortSecurityEnable, vPortGroups), service definitions in vSvcTable (vSvcTelEnable/vSvcLtEnable/vSvcRawEnable, vSvcIpAddr, vSvcTcpPort), user/security profiles in vProfTable and vSecTable, host/name-service tables (vHostTable, vNsTable), TACACS configuration (vTacTable), active protocol sessions (vTelSessTable for Telnet, vRlogSessTable for rlogin, vLtSessTable for LAT), output queues (vQueTable), and SNMP trap destination configuration (vSnmpTrapDestTable). This data is useful for tracking how many terminal sessions are active per port/service and whether trap destinations and TACACS-based security are correctly configured on the device. It has no dependency on other MIBs beyond RFC1155-SMI/RFC1213-MIB textual conventions, and it is deployed on standalone Fibronics FMX1830 terminal-server hardware -- engineers looking up the FMX1830 MIB should note it documents this older terminal-server line rather than any optical transport product that happens to share the same model number.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FMX1830. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Fibronics FMX1830 terminal server / linecard (legacy async terminal-server hardware, distinct from later Nokia 1830 optical transport products despite the shared model number)

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls vPortActiveSessions and vPortState in vPortTable to see how many Telnet/rlogin/LAT sessions are active on a given port, and checks vTelSessTable for stalled entries; a port stuck at its vPortSessionLimit for vPortActiveSessions would indicate the port is exhausted and unable to accept new terminal sessions.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-port terminal session state and counts
  • active Telnet/rlogin/LAT session tables
  • service (Telnet/LAT/raw) enablement per port
  • user/security profile and TACACS configuration
  • output queue tables
  • SNMP trap destination configuration
