Description: Extreme/Enterasys Networks MIB for the RADIUS Dynamic Authorization server (RFC 5176) CoA and disconnect message handling.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ENTERASYS-RADIUS-DYNAMIC-AUTHOR-SERVER-EXT-MIB?
This Extreme/Enterasys Networks enterprise MIB extends the standard RADIUS Dynamic Authorization server-side MIB (RFC 4673), adding read-write configuration for handling Change-of-Authorization (CoA) and Disconnect messages from RADIUS clients. It exposes a client table identifying which RADIUS servers are permitted to send dynamic-authorization requests to the device, along with shared-secret and row-status/enable objects. Monitoring-wise it is primarily a configuration-integrity check rather than a live counter feed: verifying enable status and the configured client list confirms the switch is correctly set up to accept CoA/disconnect requests used for dynamic session control (e.g., forcing re-authentication or disconnecting a compromised endpoint). It explicitly builds on RFC 4673 (RADIUS Dynamic Authorization Server MIB) and the underlying RFC 5176 Dynamic Authorization protocol. It is deployed on Enterasys/Extreme switches and wireless controllers where a NAC or policy server needs to dynamically alter or terminate active user sessions. Engineers can download the ENTERASYS-RADIUS-DYNAMIC-AUTHOR-SERVER-EXT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ENTERASYS-RADIUS-DYNAMIC-AUTHOR-SERVER-EXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Enterasys/Extreme Networks switch or wireless controller
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would check etsysRadiusDynAuthorServerEnable and then review etsysRadiusDynAuthorServerClientTable/etsysRadiusDynAuthorServerClientEntry to confirm the etsysRadiusDynAuthorServerClientAddress and etsysRadiusDynAuthorServerClientSecret match the NAC/policy server issuing CoA requests. If a CoA-triggered disconnect isn't taking effect, etsysRadiusDynAuthorServerClientStatus would be inspected to confirm the client entry is active rather than misconfigured or disabled.
What Can Be Monitored
- dynamic authorization server enable status
- configured RADIUS client addresses
- client shared secret configuration status
- client row/active status
- virtual router association for RADIUS client
