Description: Enterasys Networks MIB for querying platform-specific hardware resource limits and capacity profiles.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ENTERASYS-RESOURCE-LIMITS-MIB?

ENTERASYS-RESOURCE-LIMITS-MIB is an Enterasys Networks enterprise MIB that reports platform-specific hardware resource capacity limits and the currently active resource profile on a switch. It exposes administrative and operational resource-limit profiles along with a table detailing per-profile capacity for authenticated users, MAC rules, IPv4/IPv6 rules, Layer 2 rules, and IPv6 ingress ACL entries. Its monitoring value is centered on hardware capacity/configuration status: it lets an administrator confirm which resource profile is running, verify it matches the platform's actual TCAM/hardware capabilities, and catch a mismatch between the admin-configured profile and what the hardware operationally supports. It is an Enterasys-specific extension with no direct IETF equivalent, reflecting the platform's underlying hardware forwarding-table architecture. It is deployed on Enterasys/Extreme enterprise switches where ACL, MAC, and authentication table capacity planning is important for high-density access layer deployments. Engineers can download the ENTERASYS-RESOURCE-LIMITS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ENTERASYS-RESOURCE-LIMITS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Enterasys/Extreme Networks switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator compares etsysResourceLimitsProfileAdmin against etsysResourceLimitsProfileOperational to confirm a requested resource profile change actually took effect after a reboot. Querying etsysResourceLimitsProfileTable (etsysResourceLimitsProfileEntry, keyed by etsysResourceLimitsProfileIndex) and its etsysResourceLimitsProfileIpv4Rules or etsysResourceLimitsProfileMacRules columns reveals the maximum ACL/MAC entries the current profile supports, which helps diagnose why new ACL rules are being rejected once a hardware TCAM limit is reached.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active vs. configured resource profile
  • maximum authenticated users
  • MAC rule capacity
  • IPv4/IPv6 ACL rule capacity
  • Layer 2 rule capacity
  • IPv6 ingress ACL capacity
