Description: A proprietary Enterasys Networks extension of the IEEE 802.3/LLDP MIB, adding further objects for LLDP port configuration.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ENTERASYS-DOT3-LLDP-EXT-MIB?
ENTERASYS-DOT3-LLDP-EXT-MIB is a proprietary Enterasys Networks extension to the IEEE 802.3/LLDP-V2 MIB framework that adds Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE, IEEE 802.3az) configuration and status objects on a per-port basis. Its etsysDot3LldpExtEeeConfigTable, indexed by lldpV2LocPortIfIndex from LLDP-V2-MIB, exposes etsysDot3LldpExtEeeAdminStatus (administrative enable/disable of EEE) and etsysDot3LldpExtEeeOperStatus (enabled/disabled/unsupported) alongside etsysDot3LldpExtEeeTLVTxEnable controlling whether the EEE LLDP TLV is advertised to the link partner, and the low-level wake-time parameters etsysDot3LldpExtEeeLocRxTwSys and etsysDot3LldpExtEeeLocFbTwSys mapped directly to IEEE 802.3 clause 78.4.2.3 system values. All five objects are grouped into the single etsysDot3LldpExtEeePortGroup mandatory group under the etsysDot3LldpExtEeePortCompliance statement. Because it augments rather than replaces the standard LLDP MIB, it depends on LLDP-V2-MIB for port indexing and P-BRIDGE-MIB for the EnabledStatus textual convention, and on ENTERASYS-MIB-NAMES for its registration point. It is deployed on Enterasys (later Extreme Networks) switching platforms that support Energy Efficient Ethernet, and administrators can download the ENTERASYS-DOT3-LLDP-EXT-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser for visibility into per-port EEE negotiation and power-saving behavior.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ENTERASYS-DOT3-LLDP-EXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Enterasys Networks (later Extreme Networks) LLDP/EEE-capable switches
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls etsysDot3LldpExtEeeAdminStatus and etsysDot3LldpExtEeeOperStatus for a port to confirm EEE is both enabled and operationally active; an admin status of enabled paired with an oper status of unsupported would indicate the connected link partner or port hardware does not support Energy Efficient Ethernet negotiation.
What Can Be Monitored
- EEE administrative enable/disable status
- EEE operational status (enabled/disabled/unsupported)
- EEE TLV transmission enable flag
- local receive/fallback Tw_sys wake-time values
