Description: Dell EqualLogic LLDP extension MIB for exchanging neighbor discovery information on iSCSI storage array network interfaces.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is EQL-LLDP-MIB?

EQL-LLDP-MIB is a Dell EqualLogic enterprise MIB (under the equalLogic(12740) OID arc, EqualLogic Inc. having since been absorbed into Dell) that implements an IEEE 802.1AB LLDP-derived neighbor-discovery table for EqualLogic PS-series iSCSI storage arrays. Its single table, eqlLldpDynamicIfTable, indexed by eqlGroupId, eqlMemberIndex, and ifIndex, carries per-interface LLDP peer data: eqlLldpRemMacAddress, chassis/port identifier and subtype pairs (eqlLldpV2RemChassisIdSubtype/RemChassisId, eqlLldpV2RemPortIdSubtype/RemPortId), the peer's system name/description (eqlLldpV2RemSysName/RemSysDesc), management address (eqlLldpV2RemMgmtAddr), and an overall per-port eqlLldpV2State (off/noPeer/active/multiplePeers). Monitoring this table lets an administrator confirm that each storage-array network interface has correctly discovered its adjacent switch port, important for validating iSCSI SAN cabling and multipath network topology during array or group deployment. It depends on EQUALLOGIC-SMI for the base enterprise OID and on EQLGROUP-MIB/EQLMEMBER-MIB for the group/member indexing used across the EqualLogic MIB family, and it is deployed on Dell EqualLogic PS-series storage arrays participating in an EqualLogic storage group; storage teams can pull the EQL-LLDP-MIB MIB to verify LLDP neighbor data alongside the group's management tools.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EQL-LLDP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Dell EqualLogic PS-series iSCSI storage arrays

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls eqlLldpDynamicIfTable for a given eqlGroupId/eqlMemberIndex/ifIndex to confirm eqlLldpV2State reads active(2) and that eqlLldpV2RemSysName matches the expected top-of-rack switch; a port reporting noPeer(1) after cabling would indicate a bad LLDP-enabled link between the array's network interface and its switch port.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-port LLDP peer state (off/noPeer/active/multiplePeers)
  • remote chassis ID and subtype
  • remote port ID and subtype
  • remote system name/description
  • remote management address
