Category: Protocol: LLDP, Standard: IEEE 802, Vendor: D-Link

Description: Controls and monitors Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) on D-Link 3100 series switches for neighbor device discovery.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DLINK-3100-LLDP-MIB?

DLINK-3100-LLDP-MIB is a vendor-specific D-Link MIB that extends the standard LLDP-MIB and LLDP-EXT-MED-MIB with proprietary objects for Link Layer Discovery Protocol management on D-Link 3100-series (ROS-based) switches. It provides global enable/disable control (rlLldpEnabled), per-port automatically-advertised management address tracking (rlLldpAutoAdvLocPortManAddrTable), LLDP-MED local media policy container configuration (rlLldpXMedLocMediaPolicyContainerTable, covering VLAN ID, 802.1p priority, and DSCP per application type), and TLV transmission-overload diagnostics (rlLldpTLVsTxOverloadingTable/rlLldpTLVsTxOverloadingSizeTable) that report when advertised TLVs exceed the LLDPDU frame size limit, with notifications when a port enters or exits that overloaded state. Monitoring it helps confirm neighbor-discovery is enabled and functioning, that voice/video media policies are correctly advertised to endpoints, and that a port hasn't silently dropped TLVs due to frame-size overload. It depends on the standard LLDP-MIB and LLDP-EXT-MED-MIB for its base remote/local tables, and administrators can download the DLINK-3100-LLDP-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DLINK-3100-LLDP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • D-Link 3100-series ROS switches

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls rlLldpTLVsTxOverloadingSizeTable per port to check rlLldpTLVsTxOverloading and rlLldpLeftTLVsTxSize; a true overloading flag with a negative left-size value indicates TLVs are being dropped from that port's LLDPDU, meaning neighboring devices may not receive full LLDP-MED voice/video policy information.

What Can Be Monitored

  • global LLDP enable/disable state
  • auto-advertised management address entries per port
  • LLDP-MED media policy container config (VLAN, priority, DSCP)
  • TLV transmission overload state and remaining frame size
  • remote device Time-To-Live (TTL) per neighbor entry
