Description: Provides managed objects for DS3/T3 interface performance monitoring and configuration on Juniper Networks E-series WAN routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Juniper-DS3-MIB?

This Juniper enterprise MIB supplements the standard DS3-MIB (RFC 2496) with Juniper-specific configuration and status objects for DS3/E3/T3 WAN interfaces on E-series routers. It exposes per-DS3-channel configuration data: line length/type, cell scrambling configuration, channelization mode, interface type/application, DS3 channel number, lower-layer interface linkage, row status, and DSU mode. Monitoring emphasis is primarily on configuration/software-state visibility into how each DS3 interface is provisioned — juniDsx3RowStatus and juniDsx3LowerIfIndex confirm an interface is correctly created and mapped to its physical port, while line type/length settings help diagnose framing or signal-integrity issues on the physical T3 circuit, complementing standard DS3-MIB performance counters not included in this Juniper supplement. This module explicitly extends and depends on the standard DS3-MIB (RFC 2496) for the base interface/performance objects, adding only Juniper-specific configuration attributes. It is deployed on Juniper E-series routers with DS3/T3 WAN interface cards used for leased-line WAN connectivity. Engineers can download the Juniper-DS3-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-DS3-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper E-Series router (DS3/T3 WAN interface)

Monitoring Examples

Polling juniDsx3ConfigTable/juniDsx3ConfigEntry by the relevant index lets an operator verify juniDsx3LineType and juniDsx3LineLength match the carrier's circuit specification, and check juniDsx3Channelization/juniDsx3Ds3Channel to confirm a channelized DS3 is split into the expected number of DS1 channels. juniDsx3RowStatus reveals whether a given DS3 interface entry is active, and juniDsx3Ds3DsuMode shows whether internal or external DSU mode is configured, useful when troubleshooting a circuit that won't come up.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DS3 line type and length configuration
  • channelization mode / DS1 channel mapping
  • interface row/provisioning status
  • DSU mode configuration
