Description: Manages IPv4 routing configuration and interface addressing on Dell network switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is Dell-IP?
Dell-IP, as implemented in this source file, is not a functional monitoring MIB but a minimal compatibility stub whose sole purpose is OID registration: it defines the ipSpec, rlOspf, and rlIpRoutingProtPreference OBJECT-IDENTITY root nodes, under the Dell/Radlan rnd private-enterprise arc, that other Dell modules — Dell-IpRouter, Dell-IPv6, and Dell-Redistribute — anchor their actual IPv4/IPv6 routing and OSPF objects to. It contains no OBJECT-TYPE tables, counters, or configuration objects of its own; the IPv4 routing configuration and interface addressing implied by the module's name actually live in those dependent modules, not here. Consequently there is nothing to poll directly from Dell-IP itself — its value is purely structural, letting a MIB browser resolve OIDs under ipSpec/rlOspf cleanly before the dependent routing MIBs are loaded. It is deployed alongside the fuller Dell-IpRouter, Dell-IPv6, and Dell-Redistribute modules on Dell Networking switches running Dell/Radlan-based firmware, and administrators typically load this file together with those modules via a Dell-IP MIB Browser lookup rather than using it standalone.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Dell-IP. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Dell Networking switches (Dell/Radlan-based OS) — specific product line not named in this source file
Monitoring Examples
An operator loading Dell-IpRouter into a MIB browser first resolves Dell-IP so that OIDs under ipSpec and rlOspf compile without unknown-parent errors; if Dell-IP is missing, dependent modules like Dell-Redistribute would fail to load entirely rather than expose any counter directly.
What Can Be Monitored
- ipSpec root OID resolution
- rlOspf root OID resolution
- rlIpRoutingProtPreference root OID resolution
- dependent-module OID anchoring (structural registration only, no live counters)
