Category: SNMP Framework

Description: Defines trap and notification objects for fault and status events on DASAN network equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DASAN-NOTIFICATION?

DASAN-NOTIFICATION is a vendor-specific trap definition MIB for DASAN Network Solutions equipment, providing the notification (trap) structures used across the broader DASAN MIB family rather than data objects of its own. It defines the fault and status event types (alarms, link changes, resets) that DASAN devices emit toward an NMS, complementing polling-based MIBs like DASAN-EPON-MIB. Because it carries no readable runtime counters, its role in monitoring is asynchronous: it delivers real-time fault/status events such as hardware failure, link down, or configuration change rather than periodic polled data like CPU load or uptime. It depends on the SNMPv2-SMI/SNMPv2-CONF notification framework and typically the enterprise's other DASAN product MIBs whose objects the traps reference. The DASAN-NOTIFICATION MIB is deployed as part of the trap-receiver configuration on a network management platform monitoring a DASAN access or aggregation network.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DASAN-NOTIFICATION. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • DASAN network equipment (switches/OLTs)

Monitoring Examples

This module is a notification/conformance definitions module without its own polled data objects, so there is no realistic polling scenario to describe honestly; its value lies in receiving traps (e.g. an alarm or link-down event fired by a companion DASAN data MIB) rather than SNMP GET/walk operations.
