Description: Declares agent capabilities for Unidirectional Link Detection Protocol (UDLD) management on Cisco platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-UDLDP-CAPABILITY?
This is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES module documenting which parts of CISCO-UDLDP-MIB a device's SNMP agent implements, relevant to Unidirectional Link Detection Protocol (UDLD) management for detecting one-way fiber/copper link failures on Cisco platforms. As a capabilities module it defines no scalar or table objects itself, so it exposes no UDLD port state, neighbor, or notification data. It therefore has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status such as link state, uptime, or UDLD detection counters, all of which reside in the MIB it describes. Its sole notable dependency is on CISCO-UDLDP-MIB. It is used by management systems and MIB compilers to determine per-device UDLD feature support, not polled for operational monitoring, making the CISCO-UDLDP-CAPABILITY reference useful chiefly to MIB compilers and management-system integrators confirming UDLD feature coverage.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-UDLDP-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco switches/routers with UDLD-capable ports
Monitoring Examples
This module is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES declaration with no runtime data objects (sample_objects is empty), so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; it is only consulted to determine which groups of CISCO-UDLDP-MIB a given agent supports.
