Category: Network Interfaces, Vendor: Aastra

Description: Manages V.34 modem configuration and performance for Aastra/ConvertedX equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CXV34-MIB?

CXV34-MIB is an Aastra/CX Memotec (ConvertedX) MIB managing V.34 modem configuration and performance, V.34 being an ITU dial-up modem standard supporting speeds up to 33.6 kbps over analog phone lines. It exposes per-slot modem configuration and status, tracked via a slot table, covering settings and performance data for modem hardware installed in a chassis. For monitoring it is used to confirm each modem slot's operational status and connection performance, revealing a modem that has failed to train up to its expected speed or has dropped a call, which is a hardware/line-status concern specific to dial-up modem interfaces rather than general CPU or temperature metrics (though it may reflect the health of the modem hardware itself). It depends on the ITU-T V.34 modem standard for the modulation/negotiation behavior it reports on. It is deployed on Aastra/CX Memotec chassis-based modem equipment used for dial-up WAN/backup connectivity. Engineers can download the CXV34-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXV34-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Aastra/CX Memotec chassis-based V.34 modem equipment

Monitoring Examples

No detailed per-column sample objects were provided beyond the table name itself, so specific field-level polling cannot be described precisely; an administrator would poll v34SlotTable/v34SlotEntry (inferred) per modem slot to check connection status and negotiated line speed, confirming a modem has trained to its expected V.34 rate rather than falling back to a lower speed. A modem slot repeatedly failing to establish or retrain a connection would indicate a line-quality problem or hardware fault in that slot. This scenario is described generally given the limited confirmed object detail (only v34SlotTable was listed).

What Can Be Monitored

  • modem slot connection status
  • negotiated V.34 line speed
