Description: Manages T1 (DS1) interface configuration and performance monitoring on H3C/3Com routers, including framing, line coding, and circuit status objects.

What Is A3COM-HUAWEI-T1-MIB?

A3COM-HUAWEI-T1-MIB is an H3C/3Com private MIB supplying T1 (DS1) interface objects not covered by the standard RFC 1213 and RFC 2233 interface MIBs, targeting T1 WAN circuit configuration and error monitoring on routers. It exposes a per-interface status table with detailed line-error counters covering CRC errors, alignment errors, framing errors, overruns, runts, giants, dribble errors, aborted sequences, and buffer exhaustion. This is a classic hardware/circuit-health monitoring MIB: rising error counters on a T1 span directly indicate physical-layer problems such as a degraded copper/fiber circuit, clocking mismatch, or carrier-side line fault before the circuit fully fails. It explicitly supplements RFC 1213 (MIB-II) and RFC 2233 (IF-MIB) rather than duplicating them, so it is meant to be read together with standard interface tables. It is deployed on H3C/3Com routers with T1/DS1 WAN interface cards used for leased-line or PRI connectivity. Engineers can download the A3COM-HUAWEI-T1-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in A3COM-HUAWEI-T1-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C/3Com routers with T1/DS1 WAN interfaces

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls t1InterfaceStatusTable/t1InterfaceStatusEntry and watches t1InterfaceInCrcErrs and t1InterfaceInFramingErrs climb over time, which points to a T1 line-coding or clock-source mismatch with the carrier. A spike in t1InterfaceInOverRunsErrs or t1InterfaceInNoBufferErrs suggests the router is dropping incoming T1 frames due to local buffer exhaustion rather than a line problem. Rising t1InterfaceInAlignErrs alongside t1InterfaceInAbortedSeqErrs would further narrow the fault to framing/synchronization issues on that circuit.

What Can Be Monitored

  • T1 interface status
  • CRC error count
  • framing error count
  • alignment error count
  • overrun/buffer errors
  • runts/giants/dribble errors

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using t1InterfaceInErrs OID:

Select an H3C/3Com T1/DS1 router as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type t1InterfaceInErrs into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The total number of error received on this interface. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases between polls, since a rising count of errors, failures, or discards often points to a real underlying problem. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
