Description: Manages Aastra MC (Media Controller) voice module configuration, codec parameters, and voice channel status.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CXMCVOX-MIB?
CXMCVOX-MIB is a vendor-specific Aastra/CX MIB managing the Media Controller (MC) voice module, covering voice channel configuration, codec/path parameters, and voice-specific alarm conditions such as ring voltage and DC tension thresholds. It groups objects into path administration, global module settings, and a dedicated statistics-and-log branch for the voice hardware. For hardware/software status monitoring, its most notable objects relate to voice-line electrical health: cxMcVoxGlobalTensionRing and cxMcVoxGlobalTensionDc represent monitored line voltage conditions, with corresponding trap objects (cxMcVoxGlobalTrapRing, cxMcVoxGlobalTrapDc) firing alerts when those conditions go out of range, effectively serving as a hardware fault-detection mechanism for the voice interface circuitry; reinit/clear path and net objects also allow remote recovery actions on a stuck voice channel. It is a companion module to other CX voice/telephony MIBs (e.g., CXVMFC-MIB) on the same converged access platform. It is typically deployed in Aastra CX integrated access devices providing analog/digital voice trunking alongside data over a shared WAN link. Engineers can download the CXMCVOX-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXMCVOX-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Aastra ConvertedX (CX) integrated access device with voice module
- Media Controller (MC) voice card
Monitoring Examples
An operator would monitor cxMcVoxGlobalTensionRing and cxMcVoxGlobalTensionDc to detect abnormal ring or DC voltage on a voice path, conditions that typically indicate a wiring fault or failing line card; when out of range, cxMcVoxGlobalTrapRing or cxMcVoxGlobalTrapDc traps would fire to alert operations. If a voice path becomes unresponsive, cxMcVoxGlobalReinitPath or cxMcVoxGlobalClearPath could be invoked to reset it without a full device reboot. cxMcVoxGlobalAdmPathLng and cxMcVoxGlobalAdmLocalId would be checked to confirm the voice path length/addressing configuration matches the physical wiring plan.
What Can Be Monitored
- ring voltage condition
- DC tension/voltage condition
- voice path reinitialization state
- local path/network identifier configuration
- voice fault traps

When set to 'yes', this object triggers the port to intiate a self-test. The port examines various hardware components, for example the RAM, DPRAM and I/O access. Each test runs for less than 2 seconds. You can perform the test on either an open (call in progress) or closed channel. If you perform the test on an open channel the call that is in progress is disconnected. The user must place the call again after the test is complete. Note: The port must be set to 'enable' (using the object cxMcVoxEmAdmPortStatus, cxMcVoxFxoAdmstatus or cxMcVoxFxsAdmStatus) to be able to perform the self-test. You can view the results of the test in the cxMcVoxStatusTable. While the port is running a self-test, it is not functional. It will return to normal when the test is complete. The setting of this object is dynamic. When set to'yes' the port immediately begins to monitor itself. Options: no (1) yes (2) Default Value: no (1) Configuration Changed: operative |
| INT cxMcVoxCfgToneTest | 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.1.2.2.1.10 | INTEGER | read-write | Determines the state of the port's standard tone test (1004Hz). When set to 'enable', this object triggers the port to perform a tone test. The port tests its voice sound quality by transmitting a 1004Hz tone. You can perform the test on either an open (call in progress) or closed channel. However, if you initiate the test on an open channel, the connection is not disrupted, but the local user will not be able to hear the remote user. The local user will only hear the tone the test generates. You must set this object to 'disable' to stop the test. It does not stop on its own. The setting of this object is dynamic. When set to'enable' the tone test begins immediately. Options: disable (1) enable (2) Default Value: disable (1) Configuration Changed: operative |
