What Is CXMLPPP-IP-NCP-MIB?
CXMLPPP-IP-NCP-MIB is an Aastra (CXProduct carrier-access) vendor MIB modeling the IP Network Control Protocol (IPNCP) layer of multilink PPP, automatically instantiated when a lower or upper service access point is created for an MLPPP link. mlpppIpNsTable, indexed by mlpppIpNsLSapNumber and mlpppIpNsNumber, exposes the negotiated status of TCP/IP header (Van Jacobson) compression in each direction — mlpppIpNsLocalToRemoteComp and mlpppIpNsRemoteToLocalComp — reflecting what was actually agreed during PPP option negotiation once the link's virtNetIfStatus reaches opened; mlpppIpNcTable, indexed by mlpppIpNcUSapNumber and mlpppIpNcNumber, holds the corresponding read-write configuration object mlpppIpNcComp specifying the local end's compression preference before negotiation. Because these status values are undefined until the link is actually open, this MIB is most useful for confirming that IP-over-MLPPP header-compression negotiation completed as configured on a given link. An operator sets mlpppIpNcComp to vj-tcp on a given SAP/NCP instance and later polls mlpppIpNsLocalToRemoteComp to confirm the negotiated result matches; if the status object still reports none while the link is open, VJ header compression negotiation failed or wasn't offered by the remote peer.
