Category: Vendor: Memotec
Description: Manages data scope diagnostic and protocol analysis functions on CX Memotec devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CXDataScope-MIB?
CXDataScope-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB for CX (Memotec) telecommunications/protocol-conversion devices, covering the "Data Scope" diagnostic and protocol-analysis feature that captures and logs protocol traffic for troubleshooting. It exposes objects describing the internal diagnostic database (version, size, readiness), a remote TTY/IP target for output, lost-packet counters, and record-management controls (total/overwritten/read record counts, output directory, operation mode). Its monitoring value is diagnostic/software service status: dsDataBaseReady confirms the diagnostic capture engine is operational, dsOutLostCounter1 through dsOutLostCounter3 reveal dropped/lost diagnostic data indicating the capture buffer can't keep up, and dsOverwrittenRecord/dsTotalRecord together show whether older captured records have been overwritten before being read. As a CX/Memotec proprietary diagnostic feature MIB, it doesn't appear to depend on standard IETF MIBs. It is deployed on CX Memotec network/protocol-conversion devices in telecom environments requiring live protocol-level traffic capture for troubleshooting. Engineers can download the CXDataScope-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXDataScope-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- CX Memotec protocol-conversion/diagnostic device
Monitoring Examples
A technician would check dsDataBaseReady and dsDataBaseSize to confirm the diagnostic capture database is initialized and has sufficient space, then monitor dsOutLostCounter1 through dsOutLostCounter3 for nonzero values indicating the capture engine is dropping data due to overload. Comparing dsTotalRecord against dsOverwrittenRecord and dsReadNumberRecord shows whether captured diagnostic records were overwritten by new data before the technician had a chance to read them via dsReadOutputDir.
What Can Be Monitored
- diagnostic database readiness/size
- lost/dropped capture counters
- total vs. overwritten vs. read records
- capture operation mode
