Category: Telephony and VoIP, Vendor: Aastra

Description: Manages Aastra BRI (Basic Rate ISDN) interface configuration, D-channel signaling, and B-channel status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CXBRI-MIB?

CXBRI-MIB is an Aastra enterprise MIB for managing Basic Rate ISDN (BRI) interface cards, covering D-channel signaling and B-channel status on a telephony/PBX platform's ISDN line cards. It exposes a per-slot BRI interface table along with self-test result objects for I/O registers, LEDs, impedance/line testing, and transceiver register/communication tests. This MIB is oriented toward hardware-health and diagnostic monitoring: it lets an operator confirm a BRI card passed its I/O, LED, and transceiver self-tests, and inspect communication test poll results to catch a failing or degraded ISDN line card before it causes call-signaling failures. It is a vendor-specific hardware-diagnostic MIB tied to the physical BRI card design rather than to a shared IETF ISDN MIB standard. It is deployed on Aastra PBX/telephony chassis equipped with BRI line cards providing ISDN Basic Rate Access to end devices. Engineers can download the CXBRI-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXBRI-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Aastra PBX/telephony chassis with BRI (ISDN) line cards

Monitoring Examples

An admin would walk briTable/briEntry keyed by briSlotNumberIndex to check the results of briIoRegTest, briIoLedsTest, briImpRegTest, and briTxcvrRegTest for a given BRI card slot, confirming the card passed its hardware self-tests. A failing briTxcvrComTestPollResult or briImpComTestPollResult would indicate a transceiver or impedance/line-testing communication fault on that slot, signaling a failing BRI card that may soon drop ISDN calls.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-slot BRI card self-test results
  • I/O register/LED test status
  • transceiver register test status
  • impedance/communication test poll results
