Description: Configures Aastra's Channel Associated Signaling (CAS) settings for analog telephony and trunk interfaces.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CXCAS-MIB?

CXCAS-MIB is an Aastra vendor-specific MIB, registered under the CXProduct-SMI cxCAS branch, for configuring Channel Associated Signaling (CAS) on T1/E1 analog telephony and trunk interfaces on Aastra CX-series voice gateway equipment. It exposes dsx1ExtAbcdTxSignalingTable, indexed by emulated interface type (E&M, FXS, FXO), with per-state ABCD bit-pattern configuration objects covering on-hook/off-hook (dsx1ExtAbcdEmOnHook/OffHook), seizure and clear-forward/backward states for R2 signaling, and FXS/FXO loop and ringing states (dsx1ExtAbcdFxLo, dsx1ExtAbcdFxLc, dsx1ExtAbcdFxRingingOn/Off), plus dsx1ExtAbcdRxSignalingTable that maps a received ABCD bit pattern back to a named signaling state (on-hook, off-hook, ring-on, answer, busy-out, faulty-link, and others) via dsx1ExtAbcdValue. This is a configuration/mapping MIB rather than a counter MIB, so monitoring it reveals whether the CAS bit-pattern mappings match the expected signaling protocol for a given trunk, which matters for correct call setup/teardown over TDM trunks. It depends on RFC-1212 for its OBJECT-TYPE macro since it predates SNMPv2, and on the broader CXProduct-SMI enterprise tree, and it is deployed on Aastra CX-series gateways carrying analog or R2 CAS trunk traffic, as documented in this CXCAS-MIB MIB Browser reference to its ABCD signaling tables.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXCAS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Aastra CX-series voice gateways (T1/E1 CAS trunk interfaces)

Monitoring Examples

An operator reviews dsx1ExtAbcdRxSignalingTable for a given interface type to confirm each configured ABCD value maps to the expected dsx1ExtAbcdValue (e.g., 'answer' or 'busy-out'); a mismatched mapping, such as an incoming seizure pattern resolving to 'faulty-link' instead of 'seize', would explain calls failing to connect or being dropped as faulty on that trunk.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ABCD transmit signaling bit patterns per interface type
  • ABCD receive signaling bit-pattern-to-state mapping
  • on-hook/off-hook/seizure/clear-forward states
  • FXS/FXO loop and ringing states
  • busy-out and faulty-link signaling values
