What Is CISCO-MMAIL-DIAL-CONTROL-MIB?

CISCO-MMAIL-DIAL-CONTROL-MIB is a Cisco vendor extension MIB that enhances the IETF Dial Control MIB (RFC 2128) to manage multimedia mail dial peers, fax and voice messaging sessions bridging a circuit-switched telephony network and an IP mail server, on Cisco voice gateway platforms. It exposes configuration data for IP dial peers (session protocol, session target, image encoding type/resolution for fax) as well as active call session data tracking live connections. Its monitoring value is around software/service status of ongoing calls: cmmIpCallActiveTable lets an operator see currently active multimedia mail calls (via cmmIpCallActiveConnectionId and cmmIpCallActiveRemoteIPAddress), while notification-enable objects like cmmIpPeerCfgMsgDispoNotification and cmmIpPeerCfgDeliStatNotification indicate whether message-disposition and delivery-status traps are enabled for a peer. An admin would poll cmmIpCallActiveTable to see the current count and detail of active fax/voice-mail calls, using cmmIpCallActiveConnectionId to correlate a specific call and cmmIpCallActiveRemoteIPAddress to identify the remote mail server or gateway endpoint. Checking cmmIpPeerCfgTable entries (cmmIpPeerCfgSessionProtocol, cmmIpPeerCfgSessionTarget, cmmIpPeerCfgImgEncodingType/Resolution) confirms a dial peer is configured with the expected fax encoding and resolution before troubleshooting failed fax deliveries. If cmmIpPeerCfgDeliStatNotification is enabled, the gateway would emit a trap on delivery failure, letting operators react to fax/voice-mail delivery problems in near real time.
