Category: Net-SNMP and Linux, Vendor: Cumulus Networks, Wireless and WLAN

Description: Manages Power over Ethernet port configuration, power allocation, and PD detection on Cumulus Linux switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CUMULUS-POE-MIB?

CUMULUS-POE-MIB is a Cumulus Networks proprietary MIB exposing the values from the Power over Ethernet (POE) display/configuration tool (poectl) via SNMP. Its objects cover total system/used/available power, last-update time, and a PoE-objects table (port name, priority, type, status, class, four-pair-mode-enabled flag, voltage, current, power, max/allocated power, LLDP-requested/allocated power). As a performance/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm PoE power budget and per-port power draw on a Cumulus Networks switch. It is deployed on Cumulus Networks switches (Power over Ethernet). Engineers can download the CUMULUS-POE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CUMULUS-POE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cumulus Networks switches (Power over Ethernet)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator monitors poeTotalAvailablePower and portAllocatedPower to confirm remaining PoE budget before adding another powered device on a Cumulus Networks switch.

What Can Be Monitored

  • PoE power budget and per-port power draw
