Description: Provides base objects for Cabletron SFPS (SecureFast Packet Switch) virtual networking infrastructure.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CTRON-SFPS-BASE-MIB?

CTRON-SFPS-BASE-MIB is a Cabletron (Enterasys) enterprise MIB that defines the base object set for the SecureFast Packet Switch (SFPS), a virtual-networking/VLAN switching architecture used in Cabletron's SecureFast product line. It exposes a control-processor resource table describing named CP (control processor) resources, their administrative/operational status, and resource utilization figures such as points-in and points-used counters. For hardware/software status monitoring, sfpsCPResourcesTableOperStatus and sfpsCPResourcesTableAdminStatus reveal whether a given control-processor resource is enabled and functioning, sfpsCPResourcesTableStateTime tracks how long it has held that state, and sfpsCPResourcesTablePtsUsed versus sfpsCPResourcesTablePtsIn shows resource consumption that could signal exhaustion. It is a proprietary base MIB for Cabletron's SecureFast virtual-networking architecture and is typically used together with the related SFPS call, connection, and packet-manager MIBs rather than in isolation. It is deployed on Cabletron SecureFast Packet Switch devices providing switched virtual-LAN services, and administrators can download the CTRON-SFPS-BASE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CTRON-SFPS-BASE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cabletron SecureFast Packet Switch (SFPS)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would walk sfpsCPResourcesTable entries, checking sfpsCPResourcesTableAdminStatus against sfpsCPResourcesTableOperStatus for each named resource (sfpsCPResourcesTableName) to confirm it is enabled and actually operational. Comparing sfpsCPResourcesTablePtsUsed to sfpsCPResourcesTablePtsIn for a resource reveals how close that control-processor resource is to exhaustion, an early warning before new virtual circuits fail to establish. sfpsCPResourcesTableStateTime helps the admin spot a resource that has unexpectedly changed state recently, pointing to a possible fault.

What Can Be Monitored

  • control-processor resource admin/operational status
  • resource points-in vs. points-used
  • resource state duration
  • flood/resolve policy configuration
