Description: Manages Cabletron SFPS bindery service for network object registration and name-to-address resolution.

What Is CTRON-SFPS-BINDERY-MIB?
CTRON-SFPS-BINDERY-MIB is a Cabletron SecureFast Packet Switching (SFPS) MIB managing the "bindery" service used for network object registration and name-to-address resolution within Cabletron's SecureFast switching architecture. It exposes a bindery configuration table (sfpsAgentBinderyConfigTable/Entry) with objects for object name, type, hash index/leaf, admin/operational status, and non-volatile status (sfpsAgentBinderyConfigName, sfpsAgentBinderyConfigType, sfpsAgentBinderyConfigOperStatus, sfpsAgentBinderyConfigAdminStatus, sfpsAgentBinderyConfigNVStatus). Its monitoring focus is the software health of the bindery/name-resolution service - whether registered objects are operationally up, how long ago their status changed, and whether the registration is persisted (NV status) - which reveals name-resolution or registration failures within the SecureFast fabric. It is part of the broader Cabletron SFPS (SecureFast) MIB family and depends on that architecture's switch-instance and object model. It is deployed on legacy Cabletron SecureFast switches used to build large flat/switched LANs with distributed name/address services, and administrators can download the CTRON-SFPS-BINDERY-MIB file to load into their MIB browser when working with these switches.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CTRON-SFPS-BINDERY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cabletron SecureFast Packet Switching (SFPS) switch
Monitoring Examples
An admin would poll sfpsAgentBinderyConfigTable/Entry indexed by sfpsAgentBinderyConfigHashIndex to check sfpsAgentBinderyConfigOperStatus against sfpsAgentBinderyConfigAdminStatus for a given sfpsAgentBinderyConfigName, revealing a registered network object that has gone operationally down despite being administratively enabled. sfpsAgentBinderyConfigStatusTime would show how long the object has been in its current state, helping distinguish a recent failure from a long-standing one. sfpsAgentBinderyConfigNVStatus indicates whether the registration would survive a switch reboot.
What Can Be Monitored
- bindery object operational status
- bindery object admin status
- status change time
- non-volatile registration status
