Category: Device Management, Hardware and Environment, Vendor: HP/HPE
Description: Monitors HP ProLiant Automatic Server Recovery (ASR) agent status, recovery actions, and fault detection thresholds.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CPQRECOV-MIB?
CPQRECOV-MIB is a Compaq/HP vendor MIB for the Automatic Server Recovery (ASR) agent, a hardware watchdog-style feature on ProLiant servers that detects operating system hangs or crashes and can automatically reboot the server. It exposes objects covering the ASR agent's enabled/disabled status, configured recovery timeout thresholds, and records of recovery actions the hardware has taken. Its monitoring purpose is squarely software/hardware fault recovery status: whether ASR is armed and functioning, what timeout is configured before it triggers, and whether it has recently detected a hang and forced a reboot, which is a critical signal of underlying OS instability even when the server appears up afterward. It operates alongside the broader Compaq/HP Insight Management Agent MIB family, particularly the health/thermal MIBs whose fault conditions can also trigger recovery logic. It is deployed on Compaq/HP ProLiant servers where ASR provides an unattended-recovery safety net for production systems. Engineers can download the CPQRECOV-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CPQRECOV-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Compaq/HP ProLiant server
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll the ASR enabled status and configured timeout to confirm the recovery feature is armed with an appropriate threshold, and check the recovery action/event log objects to see if the server has recently self-rebooted due to a detected hang. A count of triggered recovery events greater than zero would prompt investigation into why the OS is hanging in the first place. No sample objects were provided for this MIB, so exact object names cannot be cited; this reflects the general ASR status/event pattern typical of the CPQRECOV module.
What Can Be Monitored
- ASR enabled/armed status
- recovery timeout threshold
- recovery action history
- last detected hang event
