Category: Domain: VoIP/Telephony, Vendor: H3C/HH3C, Vendor: HP/HPE
Description: Monitors active voice calls including codec, duration, and endpoint information on HP/Comware voice gateways.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HPN-ICF-VOICE-CALL-ACTIVE-MIB?
HPN-ICF-VOICE-CALL-ACTIVE-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from HP (H3C/Comware-based ICF architecture, "hpnicf" prefix) covering real-time monitoring of currently active voice calls on HP/H3C voice gateway devices. It exposes an active call table with connection identifier, transmit/voice/fax duration, codec ("coder type"), and fax image page count, plus a parallel VoIP-specific active call table for calls carried over IP. Its monitoring focus is on live call/service status rather than hardware: seeing how many voice calls are active, which codec each uses, how long each call/fax has run, and detecting calls stuck at unexpectedly long duration or using an unexpected codec, indicating signaling or media-path problems. It is a vendor-specific extension for voice gateway call monitoring, conceptually related to but not directly dependent on IETF voice/media MIBs. It is deployed on HP/H3C voice gateway or media gateway equipment in enterprise or carrier VoIP/PSTN gateway deployments needing real-time call-state visibility, which the HPN-ICF-VOICE-CALL-ACTIVE-MIB MIB is specifically designed to provide.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-VOICE-CALL-ACTIVE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- HP/H3C voice gateway
- HP/Comware media gateway
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll hpnicfVoiceCallActiveTable/hpnicfVoiceCallActiveEntry to read hpnicfVoCallActiveCoderType and hpnicfVoCallActiveTxDuration for each active call, and check the parallel hpnicfVoiceVoIPCallActiveTable for VoIP-specific calls keyed by hpnicfVoVoIPCallActiveConnectionId. A call with an unusually long hpnicfVoCallActiveFaxTxDuration or an unexpected hpnicfVoCallActiveCoderType would indicate a stuck fax transmission or codec negotiation issue on that gateway.
What Can Be Monitored
- number and identity of active voice calls
- call/fax transmit duration
- codec/coder type in use
- fax page count
- active VoIP call connections
