Category: Vendor: HP/HPE

Description: Monitors Compaq/HP server cluster node membership, resource groups, and failover state.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CPQCLUSTER-MIB?

CPQCLUSTER-MIB is a Compaq/HP vendor MIB for monitoring server cluster configurations, covering cluster node membership, resource groups, and failover state on Compaq/HP ProLiant-based clusters (an early precursor to modern HP cluster management). It exposes cluster-level data such as which nodes belong to a cluster, the resource groups defined within it, and the current ownership or failover status of those groups across nodes. Its monitoring focus is on software/service status rather than raw hardware metrics: it lets an administrator see whether a node is active or has dropped out of the cluster and whether a resource group has failed over to a surviving node, which is critical for detecting a degraded high-availability configuration. It builds on the broader Compaq/HP enterprise health MIB family (such as CPQHOST/CPQHLTH-style MIBs) for underlying node health context. It is deployed on Windows-based Compaq/HP server clusters providing application or file/print high availability, where CPQCLUSTER-MIB SNMP monitoring helps detect a degraded failover configuration before it causes an outage.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CPQCLUSTER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Compaq/HP ProLiant server cluster

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would monitor node membership objects to confirm all expected cluster nodes remain active, and check resource group ownership/state to see if a group has unexpectedly failed over from its preferred node. A resource group shown as failed or offline rather than online on any node would indicate a cluster service outage requiring investigation. Because no sample objects were available for this MIB, this describes the general monitoring pattern typical of Compaq/HP cluster MIBs rather than exact object names.
