All MIBs › COMPAQ-AGENT-MIB
Category: Device Management, Vendor: HP/HPE
Description: Manages Compaq/HP ProLiant SNMP agent configuration and capability reporting objects.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is COMPAQ-AGENT-MIB?
COMPAQ-AGENT-MIB is a legacy Compaq (later HP ProLiant) SNMP agent module that reports on the SNMP agent's own configuration and capability, specifically which network management protocols the agent supports. Rather than exposing server hardware sensors directly, it acts as a meta-management layer describing the agent implementation itself, which is typically paired with Compaq Insight Manager agent MIBs for actual hardware/software telemetry. Its monitoring relevance is indirect: confirming the supported protocol set helps a management station determine which polling method (e.g., SNMPv1 vs v2c) to use before querying the richer hardware-status MIBs, effectively gating access to CPU, temperature, fan, and power-supply data exposed elsewhere in the Compaq/HP agent MIB family. It depends implicitly on the broader Compaq/Compaq Insight Manager MIB suite that provides the actual hardware sensor objects this agent module fronts. It is deployed on legacy Compaq/HP ProLiant servers running the Compaq/Insight Management SNMP agent. Engineers can download the COMPAQ-AGENT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in COMPAQ-AGENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Compaq/HP ProLiant servers
Monitoring Examples
With no sample_objects listed, the only documented object relates to which network management protocol(s) the agent supports; this MIB itself provides agent-capability metadata rather than a pollable hardware/performance monitoring scenario.

| agentSwitchTempSensorTable | 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.161.3.3.4.1 | not-accessible | A table of temperature sensor information. | |
| INT agentSwitchTempSensorTempType | 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.161.3.3.4.1.1.5 | INTEGER | read-only | This specifies the type of this instance of temperature sensor. This value will be one of the following: other(1) Temperature threshold type could not be determined. blowout(5) If a blowout(5) temperature sensor reaches its threshold, the fan or fans in the area of the temperature sensor will increase in speed in an attempt to reduce the temperature before a caution or critical threshold is reached. caution(9) If a caution(9) temperature sensor reaches its threshold, the cpqRackCommonEnclosureTempCondition will be set to degraded(3) and the system will either continue or shutdown depending on the user preferences. critical(15) If a critical(15) temperature sensor reaches its threshold, the cpqHeTemperatureCondition will be set to failed(4) and the system will shutdown. |
| INT agentSwitchTempSensorThreshold | 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.161.3.3.4.1.1.3 | INTEGER | read-only | This is the threshold temperature sensor setting in degrees celsius. This is the temperature in which the sensor will be considered to be in a tripped state this causing some action to occur depending on the type of the sensor. The action of temperature sensor threshold will be indicated by the cpqRackCommonEnclosureTempType item. If the type is blowout(5), then the temperature sensor will cause the fans to speed up. If the type is caution(9), then the temperature sensor is in a degraded state. If the type is critical(15), then the server will be considered as in a failed state. If this value cannot be determined by software, then a value of -1 will be returned. |
| INT agentSystemReset | 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.161.3.1.2.3 | INTEGER | read-write | This object indicates the agent system reset state. Setting this object to no-reset(4) has no effect. Setting this object to cold-start(2) or warm-start(3) will reset the agent. The agent always returns no-reset(4) when this object is read. |
| INT endOfMIB | 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.161.3.3.9999 | INTEGER | read-only | End of MIB |
