Category: SNMP Framework, Vendor: Cisco Devices
Description: Defines agent capability statements for Cisco XGCP (Extended MGCP) media gateway control protocol.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-XGCP-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-XGCP-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module that documents which parts of the CISCO-XGCP-MIB a given Cisco media gateway agent implementation actually supports. It belongs to the Cisco voice/media gateway control (XGCP, an extended variant of MGCP) technology area and does not itself define runtime data objects, tables, or counters. Instead of exposing hardware or software status directly, it is a compliance/mapping document used by network management systems to determine feature support before polling the associated data MIB. It has an inherent dependency on CISCO-XGCP-MIB and CISCO-XGCP-EXT-MIB, whose object groups it references and qualifies. It is typically referenced during NMS/agent capability negotiation and MIB compliance auditing on Cisco voice gateway platforms, where administrators consult the CISCO-XGCP-CAPABILITY MIB rather than polling it for live monitoring.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-XGCP-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- vendor-neutral capability-conformance construct, describes Cisco XGCP-capable media gateway agents, not a monitorable device class itself
Monitoring Examples
This module contains no runtime data objects (sample_objects is empty) — it is purely a AGENT-CAPABILITIES declaration referencing which groups of CISCO-XGCP-MIB the agent implements, so there is no realistic polling/monitoring scenario to describe.
