Description: Declares SNMP agent capability statements for the CISCO-GTP-MIB GPRS Tunneling Protocol management implementation on Cisco platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-GTP-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-GTP-CAPABILITY is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES module describing the SNMP agent's level of support for the companion CISCO-GTP-MIB, which manages GPRS Tunneling Protocol (GTP) state used in mobile-network (GGSN/SGSN-style) tunneling on Cisco platforms. It contains no runtime data objects, only declarations of which GTP MIB groups, objects, and notification variations are implemented on a given Cisco platform/software release. It therefore serves no direct monitoring role for hardware or software status; its function is to inform management systems what GTP tunnel/session data can be polled from the underlying CISCO-GTP-MIB. It is entirely dependent on the CISCO-GTP-MIB it describes conformance for. It is used by mobile-network operators' NMS/OSS tooling to validate GTP monitoring support across Cisco mobile-packet-core platforms. Engineers can download the CISCO-GTP-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-GTP-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco mobile packet-core platform (GGSN/SGSN)
Monitoring Examples
This is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module containing SUPPORTS/VARIATION clauses referencing CISCO-GTP-MIB groups rather than runtime data, so no monitoring scenario applies -- a management tool would consult it to check, for example, whether GTP tunnel or path-management status objects are implemented before polling the referenced GTP MIB. No sample_objects were present in the source, consistent with a capabilities-only module.
