An operator would poll mgcRedundancyGrpTable/mgcRedundancyGrpEntry, keyed by mgcRedundancyGrpNum, to check mgcRedundancyGrpActState and mgcRedundancyGrpCommState for the currently active MGC, and review mgcRedundancyGrpPref/mgcRedundancyGrpPriority to confirm failover ordering is as configured. A mgcRedundancyGrpStateChangeNtfy trap firing unexpectedly, combined with a change in which controller shows as active in mgcRedundancyGrpProtocolTable, would indicate the gateway just failed over to a backup Media Gateway Controller, prompting investigation into why the primary call agent became unreachable.
