What Is CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-EXTPOL-MIB?
CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-EXTPOL-MIB is part of the Cisco UCS management information model, covering external policy provider connectors -- integrations that connect UCS Manager to external policy registries. It exposes connector configuration and connection-state data, including host/IP identity, capability, and interest fields for each external policy client, plus finite-state-machine lifecycle status for connector operations. Its monitoring value is software-status oriented: verifying that a UCS domain's connection to an external policy source is established and healthy, since a broken connector could mean policy updates from the external registry are silently failing to apply. It depends on the shared UCS FSM lifecycle model (also used across other UCS MIBs) to represent connector operation progress. It is deployed on Cisco UCS Manager domains that integrate with external policy management systems in larger, federated data center environments. Engineers can download the CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-EXTPOL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll cucsExtpolClientTable/cucsExtpolClientEntry, checking cucsExtpolClientHost and cucsExtpolClientIp to confirm the external policy connector is pointed at the correct registry, and cucsExtpolClientCapability/cucsExtpolClientInterest to see which policy domains it subscribes to. If the connector's associated FSM status (tracked via the related FSM MIB) stalls in a transitional state, it indicates the connection to the external policy provider is failing to complete. A missing or stale cucsExtpolClientGuid entry would suggest the connector registration has been lost.
