Description: MIB for Cisco UCS Data Center Interconnect fabric management, covering virtual interface states, port channels, fabric-side network controls, LLDP settings, and DCX namespace allocation

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-DCX-MIB?

This MIB is part of the large family of Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) Managed Information Model MIBs, specifically representing the DCX package that manages FCoE virtual interfaces, port channels, and fabric-side network controls on UCS fabric interconnects and blade/rack servers. It exposes configuration and state data for FCoE virtual interface endpoints, LLDP settings, and namespace allocation used within the UCS fabric. Monitoring-wise it is used to track hardware/software operational status of fabric interconnect components, for example checking FCoE VIF endpoint allocation state and namespace allocation status to detect fabric provisioning failures or exhausted resources. As with all UCS MIBs it depends on the umbrella CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-MIB for object identifiers and the UCS Managed Object model that ties distinguished names across packages together. It is deployed specifically in Cisco UCS blade/rack server environments managed via UCS Manager or UCS Central. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-DCX-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-DCX-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco UCS fabric interconnects
  • Cisco UCS blade and rack servers

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would query cucsDcxFcoeVifEpTable / cucsDcxFcoeVifEpEntry, keyed by cucsDcxFcoeVifEpInstanceId and identified by cucsDcxFcoeVifEpDn, to confirm each FCoE virtual interface endpoint is properly instantiated on the fabric. Checking cucsDcxNsTable's cucsDcxNsAllocStatus reveals whether namespace resources needed for fabric interconnect operation have been successfully allocated or are failing, which would explain connectivity issues between blades and the fabric. This data complements interface-level statistics gathered from other UCS network MIBs.

What Can Be Monitored

  • FCoE virtual interface endpoint state
  • FCoE VIF instance/DN identifiers
  • namespace allocation status
  • port channel and fabric network controls
