Description: Manages LANE LEC (LAN Emulation Client) data Virtual Channel Connection setup and statistics.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-LEC-DATA-VCC-MIB?
CISCO-LEC-DATA-VCC-MIB is a Cisco extension to the ATM Forum's LAN Emulation Client (LEC) MIB, focused specifically on identifying and tracking the Data Direct Virtual Channel Connections used to carry LANE (LAN Emulation) data traffic across an ATM network. It exposes a table of data-direct VCC entries describing the local and remote ATM addresses associated with each LANE data connection. This MIB supports monitoring of the operational state of LANE VCCs at the ATM layer — by confirming that expected local/remote ATM address pairs exist and are established, an administrator can verify that emulated LAN traffic is flowing over the correct point-to-point ATM circuits rather than falling back to broadcast or being dropped. It explicitly depends on the ATM Forum's LAN Emulation Client MIB, which it extends. It is typically deployed on Cisco ATM edge/core switches and routers running LANE to bridge legacy Ethernet/Token Ring traffic over an ATM backbone, where the CISCO-LEC-DATA-VCC-MIB MIB provides this LANE data-VCC visibility.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-LEC-DATA-VCC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco ATM switch/router running LAN Emulation (LANE)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll cLecDataDirectVccTable/cLecDataDirectVccEntry to see each active data-direct VCC's cLecDataDirectLocalAtmAddress and cLecDataDirectRemoteAtmAddress, confirming a LANE client has an established direct connection to its intended peer. A missing expected entry, or a VCC that fails to appear after a LEC join, would reveal that LANE data traffic for that peer is not using a direct VCC and may be traversing a less efficient path. The ciscoLecDataVccMIBNotifications group would signal related connection setup/teardown events.
What Can Be Monitored
- data-direct VCC local ATM address
- data-direct VCC remote ATM address
- VCC establishment status
