Category: Cisco Devices, Hardware and Environment

Description: Provides management objects for firmware image management, upgrades, and version tracking on Cisco UCS/Firepower hardware components.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-FIREPOWER-FIRMWARE-MIB?

CISCO-FIREPOWER-FIRMWARE-MIB models Cisco's Firepower firmware-management information model, covering firmware image management, upgrades, and version tracking on Cisco UCS/Firepower hardware components. It exposes firmware acknowledgment and change-tracking tables covering administrative state, acknowledgment status, and detailed change records for firmware updates. This module is explicitly about monitoring software/firmware version and update status — whether a firmware change has been acknowledged, its administrative state, and its change history — which is central to ensuring devices are running approved and up-to-date firmware. It is part of Cisco's UCS/Firepower management-information model family (the "cfpr" prefix), meant to be read alongside sibling UCS/Firepower MIBs that share the same distinguished-name/relative-name managed-object hierarchy. It is deployed in Cisco Firepower/UCS chassis management environments, such as via Firepower Chassis Manager or UCS Manager, for tracking firmware compliance across hardware components. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the CISCO-FIREPOWER-FIRMWARE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-FIREPOWER-FIRMWARE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Firepower/UCS chassis hardware components

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll cfprFirmwareAckTable, using cfprFirmwareAckDn/cfprFirmwareAckRn to identify a specific managed component, and check cfprFirmwareAckAcked and cfprFirmwareAckAckedBy to see whether a pending firmware change has been approved. Reviewing cfprFirmwareAckChanges and cfprFirmwareAckChangeDetails alongside cfprFirmwareAckAdminState would reveal a firmware update that is stuck waiting for acknowledgment, blocking a chassis component from completing its upgrade.

What Can Be Monitored

  • firmware acknowledgment status
  • firmware administrative state
  • firmware change history
  • auto-delete setting for firmware changes
