Description: Provides management objects for the Finite State Machine (FSM) task status and progress tracking in Cisco UCS/Firepower operations.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-FIREPOWER-FSM-MIB?

CISCO-FIREPOWER-FSM-MIB is a Cisco enterprise MIB providing visibility into the Finite State Machine (FSM) that tracks long-running management operations and their progress on Cisco Firepower/UCS-based security appliances. It exposes a status table describing each FSM task instance, including its distinguished name, description, associated managed object class, and current state. This is explicitly a software/process status monitoring MIB: it lets an administrator see whether a background task (such as a firmware upgrade, service profile association, or configuration operation) is still in progress, completed, or has failed, which is critical for detecting stuck or failed provisioning operations. It follows Cisco's UCS-style management information model (distinguished names, managed object classes) shared with other Cisco UCS/Firepower MIBs. It is deployed on Cisco Firepower appliances and Firepower Management Center-managed platforms during provisioning, upgrade, and configuration workflows. Engineers can download the CISCO-FIREPOWER-FSM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-FIREPOWER-FSM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Firepower security appliance
  • Cisco UCS-based platform

Monitoring Examples

An admin can poll cfprFsmStatusTable/cfprFsmStatusEntry and read cfprFsmStatusState for a given cfprFsmStatusDn to determine whether a management operation (identified by cfprFsmStatusName and described by cfprFsmStatusDescr) is still running or has failed. If cfprFsmStatusState remains in a non-terminal state far longer than expected, it signals a stuck FSM task -- for example a firmware install that never completes. cfprFsmStatusObjectClassName and cfprFsmStatusRemoteEpRef help identify which managed component the task pertains to.

What Can Be Monitored

  • FSM task state
  • task progress/completion status
  • task description and target object
  • remote endpoint reference
