Description: Provides general metadata management objects for Cisco UCS/Firepower platform object model and managed object classification.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-FIREPOWER-GMETA-MIB?

CISCO-FIREPOWER-GMETA-MIB is a metadata module within the Cisco UCS/Firepower management information model, describing the object-class schema (class definitions, class IDs, property masks) that underlies the manageable objects exposed by other Firepower/UCS MIBs rather than exposing operational device data itself. Its data categories are metadata/configuration describing the managed-object model: class names, class IDs, and admin/operational property masks for each defined class. It has limited direct utility for monitoring hardware or software status day-to-day; instead it supports management tools in interpreting and validating the class structure of the broader Firepower object model, an indirect but foundational role. It depends entirely on the Cisco UCS/Firepower unified management information model conventions (distinguished names, endpoint classes) shared across the CISCO-FIREPOWER-* MIB family. It is used on Cisco Firepower and UCS platforms primarily by management software that needs to introspect the object model rather than by operators directly. Engineers can download the CISCO-FIREPOWER-GMETA-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-FIREPOWER-GMETA-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Firepower security appliances
  • Cisco UCS platforms

Monitoring Examples

A management tool would walk cfprGmetaClassTable/cfprGmetaClassEntry to look up cfprGmetaClassName and cfprGmetaClassId for a given cfprGmetaClassEpClassId, and inspect cfprGmetaClassAdminPropMask/cfprGmetaClassOperPropMask to determine which properties of that class are configurable versus read-only. This is primarily a schema-introspection use case rather than a direct fault/performance monitoring scenario, since the MIB describes object structure rather than live operational counters.

What Can Be Monitored

  • managed object class definitions
  • class ID to endpoint class mapping
  • admin/operational property masks per class
