Description: Provides Cisco-specific management objects for DS3/T3 interfaces, supplementing RFC 2496 with additional performance and framing controls.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-DS3-MIB?
CISCO-DS3-MIB is a Cisco Systems proprietary MIB extending the standard DS3 MIB (RFC 2496) with additional line-configuration and alarm-threshold objects. Its configuration table records line type, AIS-C-bit checking, FEAC validation, out-of-frame criteria, transmitted/expected trace strings, trace alarm, internal equalizer, and near/far-end line-loopback status, while an alarm-configuration table sets near-end/far-end alarm up/down debounce counts and thresholds, statistical-alarm severity, and 15-minute/24-hour thresholds for line-code-violation (LCV) and line-errored-second (LES) counts. As a configuration/performance MIB it lets an administrator tune DS3 alarm debounce and error-rate thresholds to match the carrier's circuit-quality tolerance. It is deployed on Cisco routers with DS3 interfaces. Engineers can download the CISCO-DS3-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-DS3-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco routers (DS3 interfaces)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks cds3LCV24HrThreshold and cds3LES24HrThreshold to confirm alarm sensitivity is tuned appropriately before troubleshooting a DS3 circuit generating frequent statistical alarms.
What Can Be Monitored
- DS3 line configuration and alarm/error thresholds
