Description: Manages Cisco DTI (Digital Timing Interface) timing distribution extensions for synchronizing cable plant and CMTS equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-DTI-EXT-MIB?
This MIB extends Cisco's DOCSIS Timing Interface (DTI) MIB with trap objects for monitoring the timing distribution system used to synchronize cable plant equipment such as CMTS devices. It exposes enable/disable controls for server-side and client-side status-change notifications (cdeServerStatusChangeEnable, cdeClientStatusChangeEnable) alongside standard notification/conformance groupings. This is primarily a fault/trap-oriented MIB used to alert operators when a DTI server or client changes status, for example losing timing synchronization, functioning as a hardware/software status-monitoring extension for timing distribution rather than exposing continuous performance counters. It is explicitly designed as an extension to the base DOCSIS Timing Interface (DTI) MIB, on which it depends. It is deployed in cable operator headends where DOCSIS Timing Interface servers synchronize CMTS and other cable plant equipment. Engineers can download the CISCO-DTI-EXT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-DTI-EXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco/DOCSIS Timing Interface (DTI) server and client devices
- cable headend CMTS timing infrastructure
Monitoring Examples
An operator would enable cdeServerStatusChangeEnable and cdeClientStatusChangeEnable to receive traps whenever a DTI server or client's synchronization status changes, alerting on timing loss events across the cable plant. Since the MIB's data objects are largely notification-control flags rather than a rich set of runtime counters, monitoring here centers on trap reception (via ciscoDtiExtNotifs) rather than periodic polling of numeric values.
What Can Be Monitored
- DTI server status-change trap enable
- DTI client status-change trap enable
- timing synchronization status change events
