Category: Cisco Devices
Description: Provides management objects specific to Cisco Catalyst Network Office switches, covering port configuration and switch fabric status.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-CNO-SWITCH-MIB?
CISCO-CNO-SWITCH-MIB manages Cisco Network Office (CNO) switch products, a switch line providing system identity, configuration, and port-level management. It exposes hardware identity information (serial number, board revision, boot version, address table capacity), system-level configuration and reset controls, monitor-port configuration for port mirroring, and a per-port table including controller revision and port naming. Its monitoring emphasis is hardware/software identity and configuration status: administrators use it to inventory installed hardware revisions and boot software versions, and to verify monitor-port (SPAN-like) configuration is correctly set for diagnostic packet capture. It is a vendor-specific management module without an explicit stated dependency on other Cisco MIBs, though it complements standard IF-MIB port data. It is deployed on Cisco CNO switches used in small-to-midsize network office deployments. Engineers can download the CISCO-CNO-SWITCH-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-CNO-SWITCH-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco Network Office (CNO) switch
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll cnosSysInfoSerialNo, cnosSysInfoBoardRevision, and cnosSysInfoBootVersion to inventory the switch's hardware and boot firmware version, and check cnosSysConfigMonitor and cnosSysConfigMonitorPort to confirm which port is configured as a monitoring/SPAN destination. Reviewing cnosPortTable entries for cnosPortControllerRevision across ports would help identify a port with a mismatched or outdated controller revision that could explain inconsistent link behavior.
What Can Be Monitored
- hardware serial number and board revision
- boot software version
- monitor/SPAN port configuration
- per-port controller revision and naming
- address table capacity
- system reset/default reset status
