Category: Cisco Devices, IP and Core Protocols

Description: Manages IGMP and MLD snooping configuration and multicast group membership on Cisco IE1000 industrial Ethernet switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CIE1000-IPMC-SNOOPING-MIB?

CIE1000-IPMC-SNOOPING-MIB manages IGMP and MLD (IP multicast) snooping configuration and multicast group membership on Cisco IE1000 industrial Ethernet switches. It exposes global IGMP snooping settings (admin state, unregistered-flooding behavior, SSM range, proxy/leave-proxy behavior) as well as per-port IGMP snooping configuration such as router-port designation, fast-leave, and IGMP join throttling limits. Its monitoring value is mainly configuration and multicast-forwarding-behavior visibility: administrators check whether IGMP snooping is enabled, which ports are treated as multicast router ports, and per-port join throttling limits, which helps diagnose multicast traffic flooding or a port unexpectedly excluded from multicast delivery. It builds on the general concepts of IETF IGMP/MLD snooping as adapted into Cisco's private IE switch MIB family. It is deployed on Cisco IE1000 industrial Ethernet switches in factory/utility automation networks carrying multicast traffic such as PROFINET or industrial control multicast streams. Engineers can download the CIE1000-IPMC-SNOOPING-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CIE1000-IPMC-SNOOPING-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco IE1000 industrial Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check cie1000IpmcSnoopingConfigIgmpGlobalsAdminState to confirm IGMP snooping is enabled network-wide, and cie1000IpmcSnoopingConfigIgmpGlobalsUnregisteredFlooding to see whether unregistered multicast traffic is being flooded, which can cause unnecessary load on industrial control ports. Per-port, cie1000IpmcSnoopingConfigIgmpPortTable/cie1000IpmcSnoopingConfigIgmpPortEntry, keyed by cie1000IpmcSnoopingConfigIgmpPortPortIndex, would be polled for cie1000IpmcSnoopingConfigIgmpPortAsRouterPort and cie1000IpmcSnoopingConfigIgmpPortThrottlingNumber to verify router-port designation and join limits are correctly set on each port. cie1000IpmcSnoopingConfigIgmpPortDoFastLeave indicates whether fast-leave is enabled on a port, relevant when diagnosing multicast leave latency.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IGMP/MLD snooping admin state
  • unregistered multicast flooding behavior
  • per-port multicast router designation
  • per-port fast-leave setting
  • per-port IGMP join throttling limit
