What Is CIE1000-TC?
CIE1000-TC is a textual-conventions module supporting Cisco's IE1000 series industrial Ethernet switches, defining shared data types used across the IE1000-specific MIB modules. It belongs to the industrial networking/ruggedized Ethernet switch category, and like other TC modules it supplies type definitions rather than managed object instances. Administrators setting up SNMP monitoring for these switches typically get the CIE1000-TC download as part of the broader Cisco IE1000 MIB package rather than as a standalone file. Because it contains no runtime objects, it exposes no interfaces, environmental sensors, or fault data directly and cannot itself be polled for hardware or software status. It is a dependency for the operational IE1000 MIBs, which would use these conventions to represent states such as port status, environmental thresholds, or configuration enumerations relevant to industrial deployments. It is deployed alongside the broader Cisco IE1000 MIB suite in industrial/harsh-environment network installations (factory floors, transportation, utilities).
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CIE1000-TC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco IE1000 Series — still the current compact rugged industrial Ethernet switch line, actively updated (software release 1.9.4, June 2024)
Monitoring Examples
No sample runtime objects are provided, and none can be assumed since this is a textual-conventions-only module for the Cisco IE1000 industrial switch MIB family. There is no direct monitoring scenario to describe for this module; actual port status, temperature, or fault polling would occur against the operational IE1000 MIBs that import these shared type definitions. This module functions solely as a supporting data-type dependency.
