Description: Defines SNMP agent capability statements for the Cisco DistributedDirector load-balancing appliance MIB.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-DIST-DIRECTOR-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-DIST-DIRECTOR-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module belonging to the Cisco DistributedDirector product line, a legacy Cisco appliance used for DNS-based global server load balancing. Rather than exposing operational data itself, it documents which object groups and variations of the companion CISCO-DIST-DIRECTOR-MIB a given agent implementation actually supports. It has no monitoring role of its own with respect to uptime, temperature, CPU/memory, power, fans, disks, processes, or software version; those data points, if present, live in the base MIB it describes. Its only dependency of note is the CISCO-DIST-DIRECTOR-MIB it provides capability statements for, alongside standard SNMPv2 conformance conventions. It is used purely at MIB-compilation/agent-conformance-checking time by NMS tooling, not during live polling. Engineers can download the CISCO-DIST-DIRECTOR-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-DIST-DIRECTOR-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco DistributedDirector appliance
Monitoring Examples
This module contains no runtime tables or scalars; its body consists solely of AGENT-CAPABILITIES clauses (SUPPORTS/INCLUDES/VARIATION) referencing groups defined in CISCO-DIST-DIRECTOR-MIB. As such there are no object or table names to poll, and no monitoring scenario can be honestly constructed from it. Network management tools use it only to determine, at compile time, which parts of the DistributedDirector MIB a particular agent version claims to implement.
