Description: Handles configuration of the NTP client and reports time synchronization status on Cisco IE1000 industrial Ethernet switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CIE1000-NTP-MIB?

CIE1000-NTP-MIB is a Cisco-proprietary MIB that models NTP client configuration and status on the Cisco IE 1000 series industrial Ethernet switches. It exposes a global enable/disable flag (cie1000NtpConfigGlobalsMode) for turning NTP synchronization on or off, plus a small server table (cie1000NtpConfigServerTable, indexed 1-5) holding the configured NTP server addresses (cie1000NtpConfigServerAddress) that the switch synchronizes its clock against. Because it only covers configuration rather than live sync-state counters like stratum or offset, monitoring it mainly confirms that NTP is administratively enabled and that the expected server addresses are provisioned, rather than proving active synchronization. It depends on the CISCO-IE1000-MIB module tree for its placement in the switch's overall MIB hierarchy and on the CIE1000-TC textual conventions for its address type. It is deployed on ruggedized IE 1000 switches used in industrial/OT network environments where accurate time synchronization supports logging and event correlation; administrators can download the CIE1000-NTP-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser for that purpose.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CIE1000-NTP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco IE 1000 series industrial Ethernet switches

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls cie1000NtpConfigGlobalsMode to confirm NTP is enabled on an IE 1000 switch and checks cie1000NtpConfigServerAddress entries in cie1000NtpConfigServerTable against the intended time source list; a mismatched or missing server address would explain why the switch's clock has drifted from the rest of the industrial network.

What Can Be Monitored

  • NTP global enable/disable state
  • configured NTP server address table
  • NTP server index allocation (1-5)
