Description: Manages Inverse Multiplexing for ATM (IMA) group configuration on Ascend ATM equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ASCEND-MIBIMAGROUP-MIB?

ASCEND-MIBIMAGROUP-MIB is an Ascend Communications (later Lucent) proprietary MIB configuring IMA (Inverse Multiplexing over ATM) groups on Ascend MAX/Pipeline access equipment, a technique that bonds multiple T1/E1 links into one higher-bandwidth logical ATM link. Each group profile entry names the group and configures whether it is active, its symmetry mode, IMA protocol version, and version-fallback/link-alignment behavior. As a configuration MIB it lets an administrator confirm an IMA group is active and using the intended protocol version before diagnosing a bonded-link synchronization issue. It is deployed on Ascend/Lucent WAN access equipment bonding multiple T1/E1 links via IMA. Engineers can download the ASCEND-MIBIMAGROUP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBIMAGROUP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ascend Communications (Lucent) MAX/Pipeline WAN access equipment with IMA-bonded T1/E1 links

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks imaGroupConfig-Active and imaGroupConfig-Version for a group reporting reduced bandwidth, confirming whether the group is actually active and whether a version mismatch is preventing all member links from joining.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IMA group active state
  • IMA protocol version and fallback behavior
