Category: ATM
Description: Extends ATM Forum PNNI MIB with vendor-specific objects for Private Network-to-Network Interface routing and topology.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is PNNI-EXT-MIB?
PNNI-EXT-MIB is a Bay Networks (Centillion ATM switch heritage, later Nortel) proprietary MIB extending PNNI (Private Network-to-Network Interface) ATM routing with LANE (LAN Emulation) configuration and memory management. Its objects cover PNNI admin status (enabled/disabled) and current node count, a LANE-configuration extension table (scope), and PNNI memory-consumption low/high watermarks with an overload-retry time. As a configuration/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm whether PNNI is enabled and watch PNNI memory consumption against its watermarks on a Centillion ATM switch. It is deployed on Bay Networks (Nortel) Centillion ATM switches. Engineers can download the PNNI-EXT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PNNI-EXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Bay Networks (Nortel) Centillion ATM switches
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks cnPnniMemConsumptionHighwater against current PNNI memory usage to catch resource pressure on a Bay Networks (Nortel) Centillion ATM switch.
What Can Be Monitored
- PNNI status and memory-consumption watermarks
