Category: ATM, Vendor: Ascend/Lucent
Description: Configures the internal ATM switching fabric on Ascend ATM network equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ASCEND-MIBATMINTNET-MIB?
This is a proprietary Ascend Communications MIB (Ascend was a networking vendor later acquired by Lucent Technologies) that manages the internal ATM network switching fabric configuration within Ascend's ATM switching platforms. It exposes configuration data describing the internal cell-switching fabric and how internal ATM network resources are organized and interconnected within the chassis. Its monitoring role is hardware/software status oriented — it would be used to confirm the internal switching fabric is correctly configured and operational, helping detect a misconfigured or degraded internal fabric path before it affects ATM traffic across the switch. It is one of a family of Ascend ATM MIBs (base, signaling, QoS) that together form the vendor's proprietary ATM management suite, implicitly built on ATM Forum standards concepts. It was deployed on legacy Ascend (later Lucent) ATM switching platforms in carrier and enterprise ATM networks. Engineers can download the ASCEND-MIBATMINTNET-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBATMINTNET-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- legacy Ascend ATM switch
Monitoring Examples
No specific object or table names were included in the sampled instrumentation for this module, so a concrete OID-level polling example can't be given here; in general terms, an operator would use this MIB to check the internal ATM switching fabric's configuration and status to confirm cells are being routed correctly within the chassis, investigating if internal fabric paths report errors or degraded status.
What Can Be Monitored
- internal ATM switching fabric configuration
- internal fabric path status
