Description: Aruba wired switch ArubaOS-CX MC-LAG multi-chassis link aggregation configuration and status.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ARUBAWIRED-MCLAG-MIB?
ARUBAWIRED-MCLAG-MIB is an HPE Aruba proprietary MIB covering the Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation (MC-LAG) feature on ArubaOS-CX wired switches. It exposes inter-switch link (ISL) configuration and status such as hello interval, hold time, hello timeout, device priority, system ID, platform name, software version, and VLAN ID list, plus keepalive source IP/VRF settings and overall MCLAG configuration/status objects. Its monitoring focus is on high-availability link health and software consistency: admins track ISL keepalive timing and reachability to make sure the two chassis stay synchronized, and compare peer software versions to catch a mismatch before it causes an MC-LAG incompatibility or split-brain condition. It depends on underlying interface, VLAN, and InetAddress typing conventions for the ISL and keepalive objects. It is deployed on pairs of Aruba CX switches configured for MC-LAG in data center core/distribution layers or campus aggregation points. Engineers can download the ARUBAWIRED-MCLAG-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ARUBAWIRED-MCLAG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Aruba CX series wired switches (MC-LAG pairs)
- ArubaOS-CX network switches
Monitoring Examples
An admin polls arubaWiredMclagIslPort together with arubaWiredMclagIslHelloInterval and arubaWiredMclagIslHelloTimeout to confirm the inter-switch link is exchanging keepalives on schedule, and checks arubaWiredMclagIslSwVersion against the peer chassis to catch a software mismatch. If arubaWiredMclagKeepAliveSrcIPAddr becomes unreachable or arubaWiredMclagStatus reports a fault, the pair risks a split-brain where both switches believe they are primary. arubaWiredMclagIslDevicePriority and arubaWiredMclagIslSystemID are checked to confirm which chassis holds the primary role for the MC-LAG domain.
What Can Be Monitored
- MC-LAG ISL link status
- hello/keepalive timers and timeouts
- peer software version consistency
- keepalive source IP reachability
- overall MC-LAG status
- device priority/system ID for role election
